Why mediation
Do you have a conflict and can't resolve it together? Then you can opt for mediation. This is only possible if all parties involved agree. The mediator, an independent discussion partner, will then help you to resolve the problem with both parties under professional guidance.
The mediator meets special requirements to be allowed to supervise a mediation and is therefore affiliated with a professional organization. Ref Lips is affiliated with the ADR International Register, among others. The ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) ensures that the mediator meets certain quality requirements and adheres to the set standards of conduct.
Emotions
Emotions often play a major role in a conflict. That is why it is important to properly address the human side of the conflict. In addition to being a certified mediator, Ref Lips is also a certified and registered professional and conflict coach. This makes her extremely suitable for mediation. The human side is treated equally and properly in the issues in order to arrive at a positive and future-oriented solution that is supported by all parties. This is particularly important in Family mediation.
Quickly come to a solution together
A major advantage of mediation is that the parties often quickly find a common solution under professional guidance. Mediation often takes 1 to a maximum of 3 months with an average of 3 conversations, but sometimes a conflict can be resolved within a week. The steps are explained in more detail under 'Mediation trajectory'.
The most important point is that parties want to resolve the conflict and are willing to listen to each other, empathize with each other and negotiate with each other.
Other benefits of mediation:
-
Relation
During mediation, both parties are given enough space to express everything and find a solution together. This helps to keep the relationship good or to end it in a good way.
-
Informal atmosphere
Mediation is more informal than a lawsuit. It is important that the parties feel comfortable and equal with the mediator.
-
Have control yourself
The parties discuss together what they want to agree on and what they ultimately decide to resolve the conflict. Either party may stop the mediation at any time if desired.
-
Complete solution
The goal of mediation is to find a solution to the conflict with a view to the future, improve the relationship and restore relationships. When a conflict is settled in a lawsuit, usually only the past is looked at.
-
Broad approach
During mediation, multiple issues can be discussed and it does not only focus on material matters or their distribution, but is specifically aimed at gaining insight into each other's position and each other's perception of the issue(s).
-
Lower costs
Mediation can prevent further escalation of the conflict and ultimately prevent legal proceedings, thereby saving costs.
